Description

Sanding Wonder™ Inertia Sander for Woodturning

Includes 2 Inch & 3 Inch Backup Pads

Smoother sanding. Better control. Less fatigue.

The Sanding Wonder Inertia Sander is a must-have sanding tool for woodturners who want smoother results with less effort. Designed specifically for sanding on the lathe, this inertia-driven sander allows the pad to rotate freely, reducing swirl marks, heat buildup, and aggressive cutting that can damage your work.

With both 2″ and 3″ backup pads included, this sanding system gives you flexibility for bowls, platters, and detailed curves—right out of the box.

Why Use an Inertia Sander for Woodturning?

Traditional powered sanding can be too aggressive, especially on curved surfaces. An inertia sander uses the motion of the spinning workpiece to rotate the sanding disc naturally, giving you:

  • Better surface control

  • Reduced sanding marks and scratches

  • Less heat buildup

  • Improved finish quality

  • Less strain on hands and wrists

The Sanding Wonder is ideal for refining surfaces and achieving a clean, even finish before final sanding and finishing.

What’s Included

  • 2 Inch Hook & Loop Backup Pad

  • Use 3″ pads for faster coverage on larger surfaces

Ideal For:

  1. Sherm Kauffman and Bob Schloneger

The “Sanding Wonder” has been our ‘go to’ sanding devise for the past several years. There are two of us in the same shop sharing one device, sometimes waiting on the other. We find it the best sanding tool we have used in more than 30 years of turning between us. Once you learn how to master the technique it is both aggressive and delicate. We still need to use other means for inside corners or narrow inside bottoms. Don’t want to think about what we would need to do without this amazing tool. Highly recommend it.

  2. madewithwoodokc

I have a sorby inertia sander, and used it for a year or so. I bought this one, and it is infinitely better than the sorby. The ball bearing action is so smooth and after pulling the pad away from the bowl, it just spins and spins because of the sealed bearings. This fits in places my drill will not. I just don’t see how this could be improved. It is that good. Vince also has different density of pads available and they really matter. This is just a complete system.

  3. Don

This is an amazing design and very easy to use. Unlike other Inertia Sanders, this one is adjustable for length to get into different depths of bowls. It has a heavy weight and handle that make it easy to hold and control.
This is now my go to tool when I need to so sanding.
